PostSubject: The Forum Problem   Sun Jun 22, 2008 9:51 am

Alright this goes out to all that are apart of this forum. This is an idea that I had and I do not know how you all feel about this but that's why I am going to ask about it. Alright this may sound cruel but hang with me. Twisted Evil So one of the main concerns right now is that we want to get all members to join this forum; right? What if we no longer respond to help request that are received through the Ikariam message system? It will force people to join this forum if they want supplies or anything else. Well anyways it was just a thought and something for everyone's consideration. Please post and chat about my idea.

I see what you are getting at and I actually agree with you and your idea, but I also have to think bigger picture and the welfare of the alliance and its members. The implementation of such a tactic might alienate some of our members and might cause them to think that we were becoming a more aggressive alliance.

Would it be better to talk up the forum so that they feel that they are missing out on something that everyone else is talking about?

Is there a smoother way to get them to transfer from one to the other. For instance, saying that everyday message traffic should go through the forum and that only emergency distress calls should be posted in-game. Maybe emphasize the in-game lag in comparison to the live chat option.

Food for thought as we explore how to motivate members to join the forum.

@ Cswanbe - I will be moving your recruiting post to general discussion in troubleshooting once I have created the forum.

I've also thought of Cswanbe idea. Though it would either have these effects:

1.) Members of this Alliance will start using the Forums and will only use the ikariam message system if needed
2.) Members will find the Alliance a little oppressing and forceful and they'll will join other alliances
3.) The view of others of this alliance will be changed inot something negative
4.) Fewer would join this alliance.
5.) Many will adore our alliance as being very active and organized (if number one takes effect)

P.S. I don't oppose Cswanbe's idea, though it may have some negative effects/ outcomes. In fact I support her idea lol!

P.S.S. BTW when I played other games like ikariam we were even forced to at least post a topic once a day, and send resources to our leader in order for him to upgrade his embassy Evil or Very Mad . Later we found out that he spends it on building his troops. Our tribe (oops said the name of the game Razz ) was deserted coz' of the very oppressive leader.

Alright, I agree with both of you that my idea is oppressive. I wanted to come up with a somewhat radical idea that would invoke some conversation so we can come to an agreement to try to get more people to join this forum. I think the main thing is to try to make people feel as welcome as can be. So we can start to build a strong community that is all about its members and I think that is the way to get people to join this forum. They would feel the need to communicate with other members more then just with the in game experience.

Well, one way of making this people feel welcome is by deleting this topic/thread. Since when they see this they won't reply since their the ones being talked about Very Happy

I do not think that this topic would upset people. We are just trying to find ways to improve our alliance and the people who are members of the forum well then they are not the problem. They in turn become the solution to the problem and should encourage other members to join the forum.

lol! Why does the lol guy's hair look like Goku's hair from Dragonball Z?
